Simple Sweet Gluten-Free Scones
We love tea and scones! I have a scone recipe that I got many years ago and have always loved but needed to make it gluten free and healthier. This is the result. I love to add craisins and sometimes mini chocolate chips. It is such a fun, special and simple treat! My children love to help make these and can do most of it. This is also a great thing to take for a meal or snack on a car trip.

Simple - Sweet Gluten Free Scones
Mix:
- 1 1/4 c. gluten-free flour (we use this kind)
- 1 1/4 c. almond flour (we use this kind or get it from Costco)
- 1 T. baking powder (aluminum-free)
- 1/2 t. sea salt (I use this for everything)
Cut in:
- 8 T. or 1/2 cup cold butter (I like to grate the butter into the flour mix, then it is easy to cut in) This is the best for cutting in the butter. I have tried other brands and this works so well!!!
Add:
- 1/4 c. coconut sugar or maple sugar (1/3 for sweeter)
- (optional) chocolate chips, craisins, raisins, other dried fruit or nuts
Mix in before you add the milk.
- 1/2 c. milk (regular milk, almond milk, or coconut milk)
Mix the milk in until you have a soft dough. If it is too dry add a little more milk.
Prepare your scones how you like them, in a large circle and cut out tringles, or we like to drop them onto a cookie sheet and my youngest likes to "smash" them. Pictures below of how we do it.
Bake at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
We love to serve them with lots of butter and my mom's homemade plum jam. Enjoy!
