Florida – Day 5, Surfboards and Dogs
We awoke Day 5 in Florida to a beautiful day! The weather was just wonderful while we were here this year. Our day was filled with walks on the beach, playing at the beach and surfboards, dogs and horseshoe crabs.

Some days we get out earlier but other days it seems like we just can't get out on our morning walk as soon as we would like. We learned the first year that our morning walk could turn into a late morning walk as well as we may walk further down the beach or find something neat to watch or people to talk to. So although we do not necessarily need our sunscreen when we leave, we will definitely need it by the time we get back from our walk and then we will be all sandy and salty as well when we get back. So from experience, we learned that putting our sunscreen and bathing suits on right away in the morning is the best thing. But putting natural suncreen on 7 people takes time. See our article about the sunscreens we use.
The children love all of the dogs people bring with them on vacation. This one they were saying good-bye to as the dog was leaving.
Our oldest said to the people next to us on the beach that he liked their surfboards. They asked him if he wanted to use it and of course he and his siblings said yes. The people even went back to their motorhome and got another surfboard for them to use. People are so friendly and nice. There is definitly a comradere at the RV Park that is not found other places on the beach front as people are outside more and can talk more than in a hotel or condo. We love the friendliness of the people there. And our children loved the surfboards.
Then as if the surfboards wasn't enough, our children convinced the high school senior to pull them back and forth for awhile on the surfboard.
We love making drip sandcastles. If you have never made one, you get a bucket and fill it with sand and then add water so that it is a couple of inches above the sand. Then you pull out the sand with your hands and let it drip on the dry sand. It will drop and freeze there as the water leaves it. So then you can make castles, bridges and lots of fun towers with it.
We have learned to have an early dinner so that we can get back out for an evening walk on the beach and see the sunset over the ocean. It is a beautiful time of day and crowds come out to see the sunset. Our son has learned to grill so he's making dinner.
On the way back from our walk we met this nice couple and their Portuguese Water Dog. They explained the history of the Porguguese Water Dog to us which was really interesting, as they had him cut the traditional historic way.
We had a great day in Florida and got everyone to bed early tonight as we were all exhausted from all of our fun!
Awesome post! Keep up the great work! 🙂
