We Learned the Hard Way
We were home and didn't know our basement was filling with water! I went downstairs to start cleaning out the file cabinet. Found out quick it was already done for me!
We now have two Zircon Leak Alerts. One by our hot water heater and one by our sump pump. Now no matter if we are home when a leak happens or away we will find out before we lose our files or anything else!

Zircon made a great video on how to set up the alert is here. I have not made my own video yet but the companies video is very good except for they don't tell you how to have it sent text messages.
How to Send A Text Message With Zircon
If you watched the how to video and read the provided information you may panic because you wanted this detector to send a text message. Good news it can.
Text messages can be sent via email.
So when asked to enter what email to send the alert to this is what you do:
- Identify your cell phone company
- When adding email address you will type your 10 digit number followed by how your company suggests below in box. If you want to send multiple text messages then add additional just like you do adding an email.
- AT&T: your phone number@txt.att.net
- Verizon: your phone number@vtext.com
- Sprint: your phone number@messaging.sprintpcs.com
- T-Mobile: your phone number@tmomail.net
- Virgin Mobile: your phone number@vmobl.com
- If your carrier is not listed here search "How to Send SMS by Email by (your carrier)"
